Defrosting Research Freezers and Refrigerators

ATTENTION: If you stored biohazardous materials or isotopes in your freezer, the ice build-up may be contaminated and must be treated as hazardous waste.

Divisional Back-up Freezers

The Division has several -20C and -80C back-up freezers. These are available to you while you are defrosting your freezer or if your freezer fails.

UNITS ARE FOR EMERGENCIES AND DEFROSTING PURPOSES ONLY. Long term storage is disallowed. Use at your own risk.

Before using a back-up freezer, you MUST contact the Division's Safety Officer. Please provide information about the contents and expected time of use.
