Each Division occupied building has equipment rooms with autoclaves and glassware washers. Training on proper and safe use of autoclaves and glassware washers is required. For more information, please refer to the Autoclave & Glassware training page.
Please contribute to the general housekeeping of all common rooms. Clean up spilled glassware washer soap or broken glass; dispose of all of your trash. Place all biohazardous waste in red waste containers. Do not pour melted agar down the sink drain.
For floods, clogged sinks, or equipment problems, call Facilities Management (FM) at (858) 534-2930.
When reporting problems to FM, submit the following information: Building and Room Number, Problem, Unit Type (glassware washer, autoclave, glassware dryer), and Unit Make.
Ice machines and water purifiers are repaired by the Division's Facilities and Shops, (858) 534-2449.
Divisional back-up freezers are identified with a sign indicating Division ownership. Units are for emergencies and defrosting purposes only. Long term storage is disallowed.

Contact the Division's Safety Officer if you require assistance operating the LSCs. The LSCs are preprogrammed. Make no changes. All users must complete the log book.

If you notice flooding in the dark room, it is most likely due to a backed up floor drain. Please report flooding to Facilities Management at (858) 534-2930 right away. Use supplies in the provided dark room spill kit to contain the water, place a note on the door warning others about the situation.
