What's going on in BISP 194?

ANNOUCEMENTS:

Welcome to this class!  I am looking forward to hearing what you will tell us about!

The full schedule for talks is now posted.  You get to it through the Class schedule link below.  Please review your assignment to make sure it's what you intended, and if you haven't already given me a specific topic/title, do it at least 1 week before you are scheduled to talk.

Please review "How will this course run?" so you know what your assignment is BEFORE you plan your talk, and remember that a 7-minute talk is SHORT.  Plan carefully.  Please notice that I have reduced the minimum number of references in your bibliography from 6 to 4.

The slides from my Introduction to Pregnancy talk are now available as a pdf.  In addition, the evaluation form that I'll use while I listen to each talk in the course is also available.  (See links below.)

Welcome to BISP 194, The Physiology of Pregnancy, Fall Quarter, 2011

Pregnancy is a transient and intimate physical and physiological relationship between two genetically separate and unique individuals; this unusual physiological condition is unique to mammals, but it's a common human experience.  In this class, each student will choose a topic that addresses some aspect of pregnancy and will give a brief presentation to teach all of us inn the class about the changes in maternal physiology and specializations of fetal physiology that make this highly unusual relationship possible.
