Positions Available in our Lab
Postdoctoral
Postdoctoral positions are available to study the mechanisms of axon development and plasticity in the laboratory of Yimin Zou at University of California, San Diego. We are studying molecular signaling and cell biological mechanisms mediating growth cone turning by classic axon guidance molecules and morphogens, such as the Wnts. A current focus is whether and how cell polarity signaling pathways may be used to impart asymmetric signaling in growth cones. Another line of interest is how molecular cues contribute to the development of axon connections in complex wiring diagrams. We are also studying the role of axon guidance cues in regulating regeneration and survival of neuronal axons following traumatic injury and in neurodegenerative disorders. We employ a combination of genetic, molecular and developmental biological approaches as well as live imaging and organotypic cultures. Please send CV to yzou@ucsd.edu.
